If there's something that will derail you from doing your own writing, it's getting a job as a journalist. During the ten and a half months that I worked for a newspaper, I did next to no personal writing, including on this website. The experience was good, but is now over, and one of the things I am looking forward to is doing my own writing again. That, and having lots of time to read! At the moment, I am reading LOTS of Floyd Skloot and will be reviewing his books in a later entry.
