Tsunamis were the farthest thing from my mind when I moved to an oceanside community a few years ago. Sure, tucked somewhere in the deepest recesses of my mind was the knowledge that in 1964 Crescent City, California had suffered a devastating tsunami, but it was not something I thought about in relation to my new home. Imagine my surprise when I got here and not only discovered tsunami warning signs everywhere, but experienced a tsunami alert within the first six months!
It was just about this time that a new book on the Crescent City Tsunami was released and caught my eye at a bookstore. Thus began my strange new obsession with reading about disasters. Today's post reviews the book that caught my eye.
