When I was getting ready to set up this website, a good friend asked me, “Why?”
I think the best answer to her question is “Why NOT?”
It is something I have never done before, and I hope that it will be fun. At the very least it is another creative outlet and should be a great learning experience.
I have been doing some writing locally in a very small market, and I would like to take the next step to get some of my writing out to a larger audience. It is my hope at some point to write and self-publish a book of essays. A writer friend suggests that starting a blog a year ahead of time is a good idea, so here I am.
Reading and writing are two of my passions, and I plan to share both with my readers, initially through publishing a series of book reviews recommending some of the best books I have read recently, primarily non-fiction.
This site will also include some of the feature articles I have written from interviewing local artists.
I might even throw in a poem or two, discuss writing classes I have taken, and recap writers conferences I have attended. Anything to do with writing and reading could end up on these pages!
Including some whimsy – like the fact that Wannabee is pronounced wah-NAH-bee and is a Sasquatch word for “wonderful.”
