I am not a typical writer in terms of what I read. I almost never read fiction, and I seldom read non-fiction best-sellers. As far as books go, I read non-fiction in particular areas of interest to me. These are books that may be outstanding, but seldom make the best-seller lists.
Part of my reason for writing Wannabee's Words is to share these books with readers who may not know about them, but might find them of interest. These are book reviews, but I could easily call them book recommendations, since I do not plan to write reviews of books I did not like.
One area in which I used to read a lot was self help/inspirational. I don't read much in that category any more, but every now and then I will read something that looks particularly interesting to me.
My first review is of a book in that category that I first read some years ago. At the time the author was still alive; recently I discovered that he died about 7 years after writing the book. Not only did this explain to me why I'd never been able to find anything written by him after he wrote the book, but it also gave me a different perspective when I re-read the book a few weeks ago, knowing that at the time he wrote it, he probably didn't know how few years he had left.
This is a book that DID make the best-seller lists and most deservingly.
